The Romany Trophy

Miss Montague Johnson and Miss Meg Williams founded the Romany kennels, undoubtedly the first name which comes to mind when thinking of Coloured Bull Terriers.  Their outstanding work produced so many champions there are too many to mention but one thing is sure - they totally changed the future of this breed.

This very prestigious award is given to commemorate those two ladies who gave so much to the improvement of the Coloured Bull Terrier over many years.

Judges report of
The Romany Trophy Competition - 31st October, 2009

Thank you very much for inviting me to judge this important Trophy with my co-judge Phil Dowcra. There was a really good turnout of quality animals, all in excellent condition and of lovely temperaments.

We were in complete agreement on our final choices, so no arguments were needed! Of the dogs it was Ch Coreniam dark magician who stole the show; a massive tricoloured with huge bone and substance. His head is so powerful and masculine, packed right up. In the girls ,for me ,it was between Arcanum Kaviar and Ch Coxgal Oiche Angel; totally different types! Kaviar is a great big girl with an extremely powerful wide and packed head, she is very well put together, one to be immensely proud of breeding in my opinion. Oiche Angel is a neat "together" sort of girl, ultra feminine and an excellent mover to boot, her head is equally well turned and filled. All of these animals were in excellent shape and were expertly shown. we narrowed it down to Magician and Oiche Angel, with Ch. Coxgal Oiche Angel emerging tops  on her altogether neat and efficient structure and movement.

Thank you to my co-judge for an enjoyable afternoon, and to the Club for their hospitality.
